KNOW WHO CAN ATTEND
Regular weekly classes are available to people ages 16 and over who choose The Arc of Anchorage in their approved Service Plans (Medicaid Waiver, Individualized Support Waiver, Grant or Behavioral Health). For more information about services at The Arc, please visit our website at: thearcofanchorage.org/services to fill out our online intake form, or contact our Intake Coordinator at 907.277.6677. Members of the public are welcome to attend most monthly and special events. Sparc classes are open to the public; classes are $20.00 per class/week, plus materials. For more info: 907.646.4664. Support staff are not provided for public events. REGISTRATION
Registration must be completed online and is available starting the month prior to the start of the new semester and through the entirety of the semester. Pro-rated fees are applied when applicable. Please contact a Recreation Center or Sparc supervisor if you need assistance with registration.
PAYMENTS
Payment is due at the time of registration and may be paid using a credit or debit card online or by downloading the invoice and paying with cash or check. We have limited scholarships available to help cover the cost of class/event fees and on a case-by-case basis, we may offer a payment plan. If you have questions or concerns, please contact a Recreation Center or Sparc supervisor. Refunds are only available if the registration is cancelled prior to the date of the event or start date of the class.
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIME
Attendees should arrive at the time the class begins, no earlier than 30 minutes prior to class. Rides should be scheduled as promptly as possible at the end of the class or event. When individuals arrive at the Recreation Center, please enter through door B.
ABSENT FROM CLASS/SPECIAL EVENT
If an attendee is going to be absent when they are scheduled for a class or event, please call a supervisor at the Recreation Center or Sparc as soon as possible so that we may reschedule staff and use our resources to better serve everyone.
DANCE AND DINNER
A fee applies to individuals receiving services, staff, family members and the public. Staff who work for The Arc and are supporting individuals attend for free. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Dances and dinners are open to the public as well to attend.
STAFF SUPPORT
Class participants enrolled in services at The Arc are assigned staff according to approved services in their current Service Plan. Support staff are not provided at dances or other special events unless prior arrangements have been made. The public is welcome at many of our special events and can bring support with them as needed.

TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENT
All participants who receive Day Habilitation services are provided transportation reimbursement when arriving to class from their place of residence and back to their residence. We provide vouchers for AnchorRides, Chugiak Senior Center Rides and monthly reimbursement to families who privately transport. Please see a supervisor from Sparc or the Recreation Center to find out more information about our transportation reimbursement process.
INFORMED CONSENT FORM
All participants receiving services who would like to have their photos taken for agency communication materials (such as this registration catalog, the InSights newsletter, social media or appearing in a film by The Arc) must have an Informed Consent Form signed and on file with The Arc. Please download the form at here. Fill out the form, sign and return to Sparc or the Recreation Center.
THE ARC OF ANCHORAGE RULES OF CONDUCT
- No weapons allowed.
- No acts of violence or threats of violence.
- No sexual harassment.
- No alcohol or drugs.
- Smoking only in the designated smoking area.
- Everyone must maintain appropriate boundaries and personal space.
- No stealing from anyone or from The Arc.
- Use respectful language.
- No revealing clothing.
If you find it difficult to follow these rules or if we feel there is a safety concern, you may be asked to leave, be suspended from future events, or be subject to additional actions.
SERVICE PLAN FOCUSED PROGRAM
Classes and events are designed to increase access to integrated activities in the community while promoting social inclusion. The Recreation Center and Sparc programs provide an opportunity for individuals of all abilities to engage the public, develop creativity, learn skills to increase independence, and in some cases, earn personal income.
