Community Enrichment Quality of Life Program (CE/QL) | 2211 Arca Dr., Anchorage
Is a loved one or someone you know having difficulty exploring what Anchorage has to offer? Well, the Community Enrichment/Quality of Life Program at The Arc of Anchorage might be your solution.
Community Enrichment/Quality of Life Program (CE/QL) provides individuals that require more pervasive supports, the chance to explore community options with a small group of peers and well trained one-on-one staff. Activities are designed to offer each individual options and personal choices. Activities include picnics, walks in the park, museums, movies, cafes, crafts, volunteering and more…
Emphasis is placed on teaching life and social skills such as improved communication (verbal and non-verbal), basic hygiene, appropriate social etiquette, making new friends and acquaintances and expanding their horizons. CE/QL offers support and instruction to access the community, take responsibility in all facets of their day and participate in the life of their community.
CE/QL was created in 1992 by request of the State of Alaska to provide much needed services to individuals as they moved out of Harbor View Development Center and into community based services. Those served by CE/QL would be individuals who would not be a candidate for employment and have few options available to them. Many participants that started the program are still attending.
Individuals who participate must be eligible for developmental disability services. State of Alaska Medicaid, Grants or private pay are some funding options available to participants.
CE/QL is a Day Habilitation service where Individuals can attend at a time and frequency that meets their personal needs. Individuals typically attend for 3-4 hours per day up to 5 days a week. Each individual is provided a well trained one-on-one staff to provide personalized services according to the individual Plan of Care and personal choices. Participants are teamed up with a small group of peers and are provided transportation to explore all that Anchorage and the surrounding areas have to offer.
