Wings For Autism® Anchorage is coming up soon! Mark your calendar for October 20 at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport!
Wings For Autism® is a program by The Arc working to make a difference in the lives of Alaska’s special needs families who want to travel, but need extra time and assistance in an airport and with air travel procedures.
This year in Anchorage, The Arc of Anchorage has partnered with Alaska Airlines and Credit Union 1 to provide this special aviation program to Alaskan families free of charge at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport on Saturday, October 20 at 2:00 pm.
Families with children, teens and young adults who experience disabilities or have special needs will have realistic practice checking in for a flight, navigating the airport, as well as boarding a plane and experience being passengers on an Alaska Airlines aircraft. A reception for families will take place following de-boarding. Event participants will receive a Wings For Autism® small gift and children will receive special treats, toys and a certificate to celebrate completion of their Wings “flight.”
The event is free for families but registration is required online: https://fs30.formsite.com/wingsforautism/form436/index.html
Note that registration for families will end 11:59 pm AKST on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
Additional event partners include State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, Alaska Autism Resource Center/SESA and TSA. This event is also listed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1154944214670217/.
