The Arc of Anchorage
For 65 years, The Arc of Anchorage has been a family-focused, grassroots organization.
The Arc of Anchorage has a full array of disability services from birth throughout life for Alaskans who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral and mental health challenges. We provide choices in disability services that best meet the unique needs of those we serve. We recognize each person has dream and goals, ambitions and interests, as well as aptitudes and abilities apart from the disability they experience.

In honor of Black History Month, we would like to highlight African Americans who also experienced disability. These individuals played vital roles in creating change and laid the foundation for the freedoms we all share today. We recognize that in many parts of our country and our world, there is still work to do to achieve true equality, and we look forward to being a part of the solution. This month as an agency, we are celebrating diversity and these brave individuals who did not let their own limitations stop them from speaking up against oppression and injustice.
